Jeeja, or make that Jija, is Raging Phoenix

The Jeeja Project for the star of Chocolate with the Thai title of Du Suay Doo (ดื้อ สวย ดุ, "stubborn, beautiful and fierce") has acquired a proper English title for promotion at the Cannes Film Market: Raging Phoenix.

TwitchFilm.net has the poster and a few details.

Directed by Rashane Limtrakul and co-starring Kazu Patrick Tang, the movie has been touted as a blend of romance and martial-arts action. Twitch's Todd Brown has more:

What we didn’t know is that the film is also fusing martial arts with hip-hop dancing for something rather unusual.

Todd is being pestered to post the show reel he saw. In due time. Good reason to keep checking back at Twitch. For that and more updates from the Cannes Film Market.

From the colorfully trippy look of the poster, all I can think is this movie is going to be weird -- a heavily stylized head trip. I enjoyed Rashane's work in his Kiss segment of 4 Romances. It was like a comic book.

I know a lot of people don't like that kind of stylization and say it's headache inducing.

But for me the headache is Jeeja's name, which on the poster in big bold letters is now Jija Yanin. Oh well. New hairstyle, new spelling.
